How do I stop the Multimedia Trust dialogue?

Problem
When loading a page with multimedia content, Adobe Reader prompts the user whether to play the media once only, or to add multimedia content to the list of trusted files.

Cause
Improved security procedures with recent versions of Adobe Reader prevent automatic execution of certain file types.

Solution
Either manually add each file to the trusted file list through the dialogue window, or amend the global preferences for the media type:

  • Open Adobe Reader.
  • Click Edit
  • Choose Preferences
  • Select the menu item labelled Multimedia Trust
  • Click the radio button labelled Other documents
  • Select the list item Permission for QuickTime is set to Prompt
  • Change the permission to Always
  • Click OK
