Windows Vista - common issues.

Some of the early reports on software compatibility issues are as follows:

Problem 1:
When logged on as a guest user, data is not saved.

Solution 1:
Ensure your users log in with a unique profile.

Problem 2:
There is no large icon for the product or CD-ROM.

Solution 2:
Disable large icons. This icon format is very new and has not been applied to old products. It is unlikely to be introduced, except where a product is being patched and/or re-released on CD-ROM.

To resize the icons:

  • Right-click on the desktop
  • Click View
  • In the menu, click one of the following options:
    • Medium Icons
    • Classic Icons

Or

  • Left-click on the desktop to ensure that it is focused.
  • Hover your cursor over the desktop and then hold the CTRL key(or control.)
  • Roll the mouse wheel up or down to increase or decrease the size of the icons.
  • Once the icons are at the required size, release the CTRL key

Problem 3:
The program will not launch, or quits with an error.

Solution 3:
Try running the program in 'Compatibility mode' for XP Pro.
