Meals dataset information - Student version

Problem:
When the 'Creating a database' section of The Project is opened, the first two links in the text referring to the data set and the item list reveal data that does not fully match.

 representation of error

Affects:
All Student CDROMs.

Cause:
Due to an editorial error, the field for salt content has been labelled as 'Low salt' with a boolean value. The corresponding field in the data set does not have a 1 or 0 associated with it, rather an 'M' entry or an absence.

Solution:
The field should be considered as 'moderate salt content' and marked as 'M' - the absence of 'M' indicates that the meal is NOT of moderate salt content. The correct item list can be seen >here<.

If you have the site-licenced version of the Student CD:

  • Browse to the installed file - usually:
    C:\Program Files\Edexcel DiDA\Using ICT (Student-Network)\content\pb\docs\Item_list.htm
  • Right click on the file and choose 'Properties'
  • Ensure that the read/write attributes for the file are not set as 'Read Only'

    Read attributes

  • Right click on this link: >here<
  • Choose 'Save Target As...'

    Save Target menu

  • Browse to the installed file:

    Save dialogue

  • Click Save (and overwrite the existing file)
  • Set the new files properties to Read Only (as above).
