Knowledge Base CD-ROMS Pelican Shared Writing Windows XP - Run-time error '91'

Windows XP - Run-time error '91'

Problem:

When attempting to print, an error message reading 'Run-time error '91': Object variable or With block variable not set is presented (as below).

Attempts to open the documents through the Pelican Shared Writing interface don't succeed.

Cause:

Pelican Shared Writing is not compatible with Windows XP.

The identified cause of this incompatibility is the use of Visual Basic 6 in the original application, and the later installation of .NET framework on the client workstation.

Solution:

You will need to manually locate the required resource, fortunately the resources are given logical names to help facilitate their use:

  1. Use the product to identify the required resource.
  2. Make a note of the Year, the Unit number/letter (a, b or c) - also whether you are looking at a fiction or non-fiction resource.
  3. Quit out of the product and right-click on it's shortcut.
  4. Choose 'Properties', and then click 'Find target'
  5. Open the 'Docs' folder.
  6. Change the view to 'List' or 'Details' and sort the folder by name.
  7. Locate the appropriate file by its name, e.g:

    y2u01c0n.doc = Year 2 Unit 01c non-fiction Word document

    Note that occasional units will have multiple resources and this will be reflected by a number other than 0 preceding the fiction/non-fiction identifier - e.g. 1n, 2n or 1f, 2f.
Unfortunately, due to the low demand for this title, and the closure of the original development studio, we cannot provide a fix for the installation.
