Knowledge Base CD-ROMS Windows Installer error

Windows Installer error
In order for our titles to align with Windows compliance, Pearson are producing CDROM titles with MSI (MicroSoft Installer) packaged installers.

Windows Installer technology reduces the chances of shared components being uninstalled whilst they are still required by another application, in addition, it allows the 'repair' of corrupted installations with greater ease.

The following error is likely to occur if you are running an older version of the Microsoft Installer application:

Windows Installer
This installation package cannot be installed by the
Windows Installer service. You must install a
Windows service pack that contains a newer version
of the Windows Installer service.

You can find a copy of an updated Windows Installer package on the CDROM, or if not on the CDROM, online at Microsoft's website (for Windows 98, and ME), or at Microsoft's website (for Windows NT and 2000)

You should always ensure that your operating system is up to date with all current service packs, hotfixes and patches in addition to keeping your device drivers up to date.

When installing software, we strongly advise that you suspend antivirus software during the installation, and that your virus definitions are up to date.
