Knowledge Base CD-ROMS General information Device drivers Driver replacement

Driver replacement
Ensuring that you have up-to-date, certified drivers for your Windows workstation is important in isolating problems.

Uncertified drivers for audio or video hardware can lead to:

  • system instability (causing crashes)
  • inability to play back some media types
  • performance issues, slowing down your PC
  • degraded playback of supported file types.
Please exercise caution when updating or replacing drivers. Make backup copies, and be prepared to restore them in safe mode.

If you are uncomfortable performing such operations, or if device drivers are unfamiliar to you, then you should not continue, but should seek the advice of an IT engineer.

The vendor of your computer should be your first contact in seeking updated drivers, as the drivers used in your computer may be different due to configuration to those produced by the manufacturer of the hardware.
