Problem:
Although the 'Administrator' can print satisfactorily, pupils, and/or teachers cannot. You do not appear to have any difficulty printing from other applications.
Possible cause:
There are policy-based file restrictions on the shared folder (where temporary print files are created). The default location is C:\PBB_Data though this may be changed using the 'setDataPath.exe' program located in your installed folder. When you run this utility, it will create an accompanying file called 'savedatapath.txt'. Your technical support staff will need to ensure that not only is this location shared to all users, but that any file system restriction policies are relaxed for this location.
Possible solutions:
- Run the setDataPath.exe from the installed folder (usually C:\Program Files\Pelican Interactive Big BooksYear [n] Volume [x]) to set a new shared location which is not subject to the policy restriction.
- Relax the policy restriction to the currently set location - open the 'savedatapath.txt' from inside the installed folder to view the current shared path (if there is no 'savedatapath.txt' in the installed folder, then this will typically default to C:\PBB_Data).
The filesystem policy may be a local security setting, but is more likely to have been set up from the domain controller and will require a technician with access to the server to perform these changes.
Edit the GPO on the server as follows:
Console Root>Computer Configuration>Windows Settings>Security Settings>File Systems>
Add the directory C:\PBB_data to the policy and ensure that it is available with full rights.
