Symptoms:
A white screen without a blue bar at the top is displayed when trying to start KnowledgeBox
Fault:
Security settings in Internet Explorer prevent KnowledgeBox running correctly.
Solution:
Please read the next two paragraph headings to see which applies to you.
If you are School Administrator or ICT Coordinator:
Firstly discuss this process with your local IT support if available - this may need to be applied by them from a central location for it to be permanent. If you are at all unsure please contact our customer service team before proceeding.
Before beginning discover the IP address of your KnowledgeBox by right clicking the icon and selecting properties. Write down the ip details WITHOUT the :9000 from the end. Example for http://192.168.0.55:9000 you would write http://192.168.0.55 for use later on
1. Logon on to problematic workstation as Administrator or equivalent.
2. Click Start, then Settings, then select Control Panel.
3. Double click the Internet Options icon to open it.
4. Select the Security TAB.
5. Select Local intranet icon.
6. Click the Sites button.
7. Click the Advanced button.
8. In the “Add this web to the zone” field type the address you wrote down at the beginning (Example: http://192.168.0.55) and click the Add button.
9. Click OK to exit that screen.
10. Click OK to close the next screen.
11. Click OK to accept and close the Internet Properties Screen.
12. Close the Control Panel.
13. Try logging on to KnowledgeBox now and it should go straight to the logon prompt.
If you are a KnowledgeBox Technician:
Apply the above but where possible carry out this change network wide for example with group policies.
